CARED published an editorial paper on Advancing local manufacturing capacities for vaccines within Africa – Opportunities, priorities and challenges
CARED is excited to announce that it has published a paper on Advancing local manufacturing capacities for vaccines within Africa – Opportunities, priorities and challenges in Elsevier’s Vaccine journal on 5 February 2025. This publication provides an in-depth analysis of antigens critical to addressing local public health needs and serves as a blueprint for policymakers, researchers, and manufacturers to enhance vaccine production capabilities in Low- and Middle-Income Countries. By focusing on regional priorities, this guidance aims to catalyze discussions and initiatives that will bridge significant gaps in vaccine accessibility across the continent. please read the paper by accessing the link https://doi.org/10.1016/j.vaccine.2025.126829
GMP Oversight for Vaccine Manufacturing Readiness in Senegal
On behalf of the French Development Agency, the European Development Bank, and the European Union Delegation in Dakar, CARED conducted in May 2024 a comprehensive assessment on the readiness of the vaccine manufacturing facilities at the Institute Pasteur Dakar, Senegal. This evaluation focused on ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards and identifying opportunities for optimization. By addressing critical gaps in manufacturing processes, this initiative positions Senegal as a key player in vaccine production for the African continent, contributing to regional self-sufficiency for lifesaving vaccines and strengthening Africa’s vaccine manufacturing ecosystem.
